Obsessive compulsive disorder in dogs
Duyu Oku
Compulsive disorder is characterized by a repetitious, relatively unchanging sequence of activities or movements that has no obvious purpose or function. Although the behavior is usually derived from normal maintenance behaviors, such as grooming, eating, and walking, the repetitive behavior interferes with normal behavioral functioning. It is referred to as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
The most commonly observed obsessive-compulsive behaviors are spinning, tail chasing, self-mutilation, hallucinating (fly biting), circling, fence running, hair/air biting, pica (appetite for non-food substances such as dirt, rocks or feces), pacing, staring, and vocalizing. Some dogs also show the potential for aggression.
No breed, gender or age of dog is more likely to have obsessive-compulsive disorders, although the specific type of OCD displayed may be affected by breed, such as spinning as opposed to self-mutilation. As with other anxiety disorders, onset of OCD begins early, around 12 to 24 months of age, as the dog developmentally matures (generally defined as occurring at 12 to 36 months of age in dogs). If you are observing early signs of obsessive behavior in your dog, and it is descended from a line where other dogs are affected, early intervention is critical.
Diagnosis
Your veterinarian will perform a complete physical exam on your dog. You will need to give a thorough history of your dog's health, including a background history of symptoms, any information you have about your dog's familial line, and possible incidents that might have precipitated the behavior. Your veterinarian will order a blood chemical profile, a complete blood count, an electrolyte panel and a urinalysis in order to rule out underlying physical causes or disease. Let us take pledge against bandh culture

After a long gap capital administration took a firm step against bandh culture by arresting the bandh callers. Capital DM remanded 12-day judicial custody to the president and general secretary of an organization for calling bandh in capital complex. Earlier DM had declared the banh illegal and warned of strict action in this regard. Such action will send out a strong message to the potential bandh callers.

Government should continue to take strict action against the bandh callers. There is no place for bandh culture in a civilized society. It is an out-dated method and is greatest threat to development. States like West Bengal and Assam have suffered a lot due to it. Bandh culture almost destroyed these states. People of Arunachal should learn some lesson from the story of Assam and West Bengal. It's time the citizen of Arunachal especially young generations shun bandh culture and embrace development. There are several other democratic methods to fight for the justice. Bandh culture only pains the ordinary citizens and create obstacle in the path of development.

An appeal to APPSC

(I)

Dear Editor,

Last year also same educational qualification was set for the post of Treasury officer/ Finance and Account officer by the APPSC that has been framed for the post of Assistant Audit officer. Many aspirant resented the education qualification as any graduate could apply for the post of TO/FAO earlier, even APPSU also raised the issue but department remained mute to the agony of non-economics Arts graduates. We have learnt that later on even the Engineer students were allowed to appear in exam for the said post, then why not all the arts graduate?

Assistant Audit Officer is not going to construct building, perform surgery or conduct any research. Their job is to audit which any arts graduate can do after some induction training. It is a general post not a technical one. That’s why India’s second highest recruiting body after UPSC, Staff Selection Commission(SSC) has kept Accountancy, commerce and Business administration as desirable qualification otherwise all the graduates are eligible for post of Assistant Audit Officer. Interestingly, there is no mention of maths as one of subjects in graduation for the said post. Though the there is general studies paper which is comprised of finance and economics subjects. Then in our neighbor state Assam, graduation in any discipline is requite qualification for the same post

If all the Govt. jobs in Arunachal starts to become a technical one and we non-economics Arts graduate are not eligible for govt. job in our own state.  what do you expect us to do with our degrees that we got after years of hard labor and hard earned money of our poor parents.

Therefore it is our humble request to our new APPSC chairman Tajom Talo to give us New Year gift by allowing all the arts graduate to apply for the post. We also appeal to newly elected APPSU leader to give us a New Year gift by raising this issue with appropriate authority and find out amicable solution.

Now non-economics graduates are feeling that our degrees are just a paper which is of no use.

Yours,

Aspirants

Dear Editor,

In Arunachal Pradesh large chunk of educated unemployed youths are from arts stream some of who are toiling day and night for years, stay in rented accommodation in costly capital like Itanagar  only  to get a decent govt. job. In such scenario advertisement by APPSC for the post of assistant audit officer (AAO) vide no-PSC-A (A)/05/2016 which denied chance to arts students is not justifiable.

Every student up to class X studies basic mathematics and economics then how come arts graduate is denied chances for the said post. It may be pointed out that public service commission in other states of India recruit the said post including treasury officer (TO) through open competitive examination. Our APPSC is the only commission in India who always come up with new recruitment ideas and formulas to debar arts graduate students from taking part in the competitive examination. Going by this trend the day will come when commission would say for the post of DySPs and COs only law graduate can apply.

My humble suggestion to our prestigious APPSC is that if the difficulty lies in the conduct of examination for thousands and thousands of candidate for just few posts then may I request it can be done away by clubbing all the vacant posts together and make it a combined open competitive examination which can be conducted throughout the districts of Arunachal Pradesh in a fixed schedule manner but kindly give us the fare chance to compete. I also request APPSU to ponder upon the matter.

Yours,

An arts graduate

Never forget the sacrifices

Dear Editor,

16 December, is the 47th anniversary of the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the first war after World War-II that the Indian Army won conclusively. The day marks the anniversary of military victory of Indian forces over Pakistan in Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. India's victory over Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971 is celebrated as Vijay Diwas. We won because we had the willpower and faith, which led us to victory. India will never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers gave a befitting and unforgettable reply to the intruders. The Indo-Pakistani war of 1971 which began on December 3 lasted for 13 days and officially ended on December 16, after which Pakistan surrendered to India. Kudos to all Indians and Bangladeshis on this day and salute all the martyers of 1971 and all other wars from both sides. The Indian Army changed the course of history with its undeterred courage, dedication and professionalism, bringing glory and honour to the Nation. It was the first major victory for a young Indian democracy and helped strengthen the confidence of the leadership and population. The Indian Army quickly responded to the Pakistan Army's movements in the west and captured around 15,010 kilometres of Pakistan territory.

It was on this day in 1971, that a declaration of ceasefire was brought into force ending the Indo-Pak War and resulting in the birth of the sovereign country of Bangladesh. In this war Indian Army fought as the alliance of Bangladesh’s military Mukti Bahini. As the result of this war, East Pakistan emerged as an independent nation with the name Bangladesh. The end of the war also resulted in the unilateral surrender of the Pakistan Army and the subsequent formation of the independent nation of Bangladesh. This historic victory signifies a unique and unparalleled feat wherein our forces fought selflessly for a just and noble cause: the liberation of the people of erstwhile East Pakistan and the creation of an independent Bangladesh.

There are several reasons for bringing back the victory in the ’71 war into public discourse. It is not only because it was a victory and our armed forces need to be celebrated. Let us not forget the lesson that a nation that ignores its army cannot afford peace.

We respect our soldiers. It is essential that we salute our heroes. We feel secure in our homes because of our armed forces and this is an occasion to remember their courage and sacrifice. Today, if our country is safe and independent, it is because of their efforts. Let us pay tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. We should never forget the sacrifices they made for us.

Yours,
